ASME Shop Fabrication
The “R” stamp allows its holder to make repairs, alterations and re-rate pressure equipment that has been registered with the National Board of Boiler Inspectors (NBBI) and built to a “Code of Construction” such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (ASME BPVC), as limited by the scope of the Certificate issued, with all work conforming to National Board Inspection Code (NBIC).
Services offered under the ‘R’ stamp:
- Repairs: are removal and/or replacement of defective materials or parts.
- Repairs that require replacement of parts, shall be of identical or equivalent as the original or it shall be deemed an Alteration.
- Alterations: are augmentations, additions, or replacements that deviate from the original design of the pressure equipment.
- Re-Rating: is a process of calculations, inspection and testing to elevate/lower a MAWP of related pressure equipment
